Principal Perspectives - Dave Warner
This is my second year as building principal at Union Colony Elementary School. I am excited for the many changes taking place within the walls of UCE. Over the summer, a new workroom was constructed on the west end of the 2nd floor. The area was previously a storage room. This new workroom is a real time saver for staff who no longer need to go to the office to have copies made. A new, hallway entry into our health clerk's office was added. In the past, students entered the office to access the health clerk's office. Now, students are able to directly enter the health clerk's office from the hallway. Each classroom has a new Promethean, interactive tv installed, replacing projectors. These state-of-the-art tv's provide enhanced interactivity, Bluetooth capable, and delivers the most seamless and integrated learning experience possible. Union Colony Elementary School is truly on the cutting edge of educational technology. In addition, we eagerly await construction on the new library and outdoor learning center. UCE recognizes the importance of literacy. Over the past few years, the trend in education has been to move away from traditional libraries. UCE believes that adding a fully operational library will benefit our students and families. The new outdoor learning center will allow for new possibilities for stimulating our student's creativity, self-discovery, and imagination. Both the library and the outdoor learning area will have lot's of windows and outside light which adds to the overall learning experience.
