With Union Colony's focus on college preparation we provide the basic technology required for success in this age of technology.  All of our students have access to an assigned Chromebook setup specifically to provide what is needed for their classes.

Insurance For Preparatory Chromebooks 

Every year students are offered the opportunity to purchase Chromebook insurance that covers damage, theft, and loss.  The cost for insurance is approximately $35 for the year.  This is only available during a signup window at the beginning of the school year.  Replacement costs for a broken screen is between $40 (6th grade Devices) and $100 for a broken screen on 7th -12th devices.  We encourage all families to consider purchasing this insurance. 

All students who use Union Colony assigned Chromebooks but read and complete the Student Technology Use Agreement and Parents must complete the Parent Technology Use Agreement. 

A word about Online Safety

Student safety and security are at the forefront in the devices we provide.  We have contracted with Securly to provide filtered contend, monitor student activity, and to provide teachers the ability to see what the students are doing on their Chromebooks in class whether that is remote or in person.  Being able to monitor student activity allows our teachers to send out a URL to all students at once, highlight a single Chromebook to showcase a students work or provide assessments at once.  But, for all we strive to do, we recognize that there is no substitute for parent involvement in the proper use of technology.  Students, young ones especially, need parental supervision while they are learning to be responsible digital citizens. Simple decisions like students doing their online work in the presence of adults helps keep our students safe.
