CMAS TESTING
All third, fourth and fifth grade students will soon begin state testing. These assessments are one piece of information that help us know how students are performing, and how we as a school are doing to help them attain expectations on our state standards. Students will take three units to demonstrate their skills in English Language Arts, three units to demonstrate their mathematical knowledge, and fifth graders will take an additional three units for science.
Thank you in advance for ensuring your child is here on time, has had a good night’s rest, and is ready to work hard and do their best to show what they know. We also appreciate your help in not pulling students out for appointments during these testing times. Students who arrive at school after their class has begun testing will need to be added to a makeup session later, causing them to miss additional instructional time.
Third grade students will test on April 11, 12, 13 and 18, 19, 20 from 8:30-10:30.
Fourth grade students will test on April 10, 11, 12 and 17, 18, 19 from 12:35-2:35.
Fifth grade students will test on April 10, 11, 12 from 9:10-11:10 and 17, 18, 19 from 9:10-10:45 and 1:05-2:55.
For test security per state regulations, teachers will need to collect all cell phones and smart watches prior to each testing session. We highly recommend that students leave all electronic devices at home during testing.
Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions regarding this year’s state assessments. We look forward to all of our Timberwolves doing their very best!

COURAGE
Last week, Ms. Nicholas’ 2nd grade class talked about being a COURAGE SUPERHERO, having courage when it is difficult such as when you are nervous to do something or when you are afraid that you might fail. Pyper shared how she is a COURAGE SUPERHERO and then showed us her superhero stance!
POPCORN FOR READERS
This month, 102 students earned popcorn for reading! The target for grades 1-5 was 348 steps and for Kindergarten was 254 steps. Students that reached that goal each got a bag of popcorn to enjoy. Last month we had 87 students earn popcorn. Let's keep that increase going!

SECOND GRADE BUG PRESENTATIONS
The second graders researched bugs for six weeks, put together a
posterboard of their learning, and shared it with first and fourth
grades. These pictures show them practicing for their presentations.

AFTER SCHOOL READING PROGRAM
We are excited to have a number of students who have signed permission slips to stay after school to complete their daily reading practice. I see students making some steady progress with their reading as a result of this additional reading time. As a reminder, students do need to be picked up no later than 3:45 if participating in this program. Parents, please come into the office to pick up your student. If students are habitually picked up late, they will no longer be allowed to stay after. Staff who oversee this program have other meetings that begin at 3:45. We appreciate your help!

Ms. Hicks’ 5th grade class presented reports on the Ecosystem. These students presented on the Rainforests, Ocean and Wolves. Some students chose to present in front of the class and others chose to present from their desks. We are so proud of our students' budding abilities and how they strive to exceed and expand their current capabilities and knowledge.

PRINCIPAL LUNCHEON
We had our monthly Principal Luncheon and it was SO MUCH FUN! We made snowball catapults. It was fun to see how far we could get the snowballs to fly across the table and knock over a stack of cups. For a special treat, we had hot chocolate with marshmallows. YUMMY!!!!
**DRIVELINE ALERT**
We continue to have a number of drivers in our parking lot who are not following the flow of traffic. We have had a number of incidents where vehicles are cutting through the middle of the lot, almost causing an accident, or nearly hitting pedestrians. Everyone's safety, especially that of our students and staff is of paramount importance. Please follow the flow of traffic by entering through the east entrance, following the arrows that wrap around each of the parking areas, and picking up or dropping off along the sidewalk on the south side of the school. We appreciate everyone's help with this!

THERAPY DOGS
We have 2 friends on four legs giving us love, support and as many sloppy kisses as we want! Their names are Dottie and Stryker. They are Therapy Dogs from Love on a Leash. They are in our school every Wednesday to help our students with lots of subjects. This week they helped Ms. Barnett’s class with math. The students taught Dottie how to count by tens. Dottie also helped to make up stories with Emma and we learned that 3 treats plus 3 treats does NOT equal 6 treats, it equals a HAPPY DOTTIE! Ask your student if they have met Dottie and Stryker!
