Welcome to Union Colony Elementary School

As a charter school we have a degree of freedom in determining the educational process based on the needs of the students who attend UCES.  A key part of our founding was the belief that our trained teachers, who know their students, should be involved in a collaborative process that determines the culture, climate, and curriculum used at this school.  While basics remain the same, our student body brings unique challenges with their diverse language and cultural backgrounds.  Our faculty, working with administration, has worked hard to develop an educational approach focused on preparing our students to begin a journey of success in life. While we were founded to prepare students for success at our secondary campus across from Aim Community College, we believe that this preparation will serve the children of this community no matter where they continue their educational process.

Principal Perspectives - Dave Warner

The 2022/2023 school year is well underway.  August and September flew by.  As the year progresses, it will only go by faster.  New to Union Colony Elementary School is our Outdoor Learning Center.  This area is used for student and classroom activities, meetings and after school events.  Also new is 5th grade departmentalization.  In prior years, 5th grade students were in self-contained classrooms meaning they had one teacher.  This year, our 5th grade students move between 3 teachers, each teaching 90 minute blocks of core curriculum.  We hope this change will better prepare our students for middle school next year.  Volunteers are welcomed back into the building this year and will have plenty of opportunities to help.  We always need volunteer adult listeners for emerging readers to read to.  Our PTO will hold the 1st Annual Fall Carnival Fundraiser on October 28th from 5-8pm.  A trunk-or-treat along with food and games will be available.  Please contact the PTO or the school office if you can help out.  Fall is here and with it brings cooler temperatures.  Please be sure to send appropriate outerwear with your child to school.  The mornings especially are cool and will only get colder as winter approaches.  Union Colony Elementary School is partnering with the “Covering Weld Diaper Bank”, who is part of The United Way of Weld County, to provide our school families in need with free diapers, wipes, and rash cream.  If you are a UCE family or community member and would like to take advantage of this opportunity, please call UCE at 970-673-4997 or stop by the school office.  All UCE families and community members in need of help are encouraged to request assistance.  There is no cost to take advantage of this service.  WE WANT TO HELP!   Please call today!  Thank you for supporting Union Colony ELementary School.
