It’s Time to Read, Read, Read!

Students start logging reading time at home beginning Monday, September 20. Each 15 minutes spent reading is called a step. Students read for 30 minutes daily (two steps) at school, and we expect them to read for 30 minutes (two steps) each night, Monday through Thursday evenings, at home. This means we’d like to see all students reading for four hours and 30 minutes a week, or 18 steps. If your child needs to catch up or would like to read more than required, they can read on the weekend. Please ensure that your child has a coach at home who can confirm they are reading and getting their reading log filled out and signed. Contact your child's teacher if you have any questions. Remember, reading is the cornerstone of academic success for your child. Research shows that students who read regularly are much more likely to succeed academically.

School Picture Day!

UCES individual school picture day takes place on Friday, October 1. Bring your best smile! Look for the order form coming home with students next week.

Infinite Campus

You can check your child's grades at any time using Infinite Campus. You can log in using this link. Please call us if you are in need of your username or password at (970) 673-4997.

As part of the third through fifth-grade music curriculum, we will be learning to play the recorder in music class. We require students to purchase a recorder. However, UCES will order them for you. The cost is $5.00. Please return this form to the office with the exact cash or check made out to Union Colony Schools. All orders are due back by Monday, August 30.

After School Pickup

Please stay in your car and have your drive line number displayed clearly. Your child will stay in their classroom until their drive line number comes up. If you walk up to the red door to collect your child please wait in the line and wait your turn. Thank you for using drive line, and understanding it is the safest way to release our Timberwolves students.

Please make sure you have sent a pair of wired, over-the-ear headphones to school for your child to use throughout the school year. We will also use these headphones for upcoming testing.
